Dr. Matt 

        Dr. Matt Pulewitz is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Merrick, New York, professionally licensed since 1999. He is an expert in family and group dynamics, providing therapeutic services for all members of families (childhood/adolescence, parenting, individual adults, family therapy, as well as marital/couple counseling). Dr. Matt’s patients are most commonly diagnosed with anxiety, mood, and attention/behavioral disorders however, many also have concurrent difficulties with various addictions. Patients who are victims of trauma and/or grief are also prevalent in his practice.

        Dr. Matt provides training for both sleep away and day camp staff with regards to effectively motivating children, creating environments of positive reinforcement, leadership development and bully reduction, and proper expectations for different developmental stages as well as different gender concerns. Dr. Matt also provides ongoing consultation while camp is in session for camp staff to address specific issues and challenges that may arise during the summer. Due to Dr. Matt’s varied experiences, he is able to tailor his trainings to the specific needs of the organizations he is fortunate to work with.

        Dr. Matt has consulted with various school districts and parent organizations with effective parenting and child management strategies. He is often called upon to act as a liaison/consultant between parents and school districts in an effort to minimize the struggles of children who may present with behavioral and/or learning difficulties.

        Dr. Matt also provides court ordered therapeutic visitation with high conflict families. These are families where one of the parents may have been alienated during either a separation or divorce. He has received special training in both Parent Coordination and Mediation and performs forensic evaluations for custody recommendations. Dr. Matt has also given expert testimony regarding custody decisions.

        On a personal note, he is married and the father of two daughters. Dr. Matt considers his family to be his greatest source of joy and fulfillment.
